This information is from the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula concerning a Prescription Drug Card which is being made available. You will want to read the information below, as well as the list of distribution sites. If you have any questions, please contact The United Way.

The United Way will serve as a distribution site as well. The United Way will list the contact information for those agencies which will be open to the general public and in the case of Refugee and Immigration Services, to the non-English speaking public, on its website at www.uwvp.org. This contact information will also be given to First Call .

Please distribute to your staff or to anyone who has questions regarding its use. Another note, these prescription drug cards are for anyone who can use the benefit. They are not exclusive to nonprofit organizations or large groups. You may find that a neighbor is without prescription drug coverage, or another organization in the community would like to provide them to their clients. Please feel free to pass on information on how others can receive the prescription drug discount cards.

Prescription Drug Discount Card Information Sheet

IT'S FREE: There is no cost to you for this donated card and you can start saving money on your prescription drugs immediately!

NO RESTRICTIONS: Use your card as often as you need, for any prescription, for everyone in your family.

HOW MUCH YOU SAVE: Our card can save you and your family an average of 20% ($9.25) on 8 out of 10 prescriptions. You always receive the lower of the discounted price or pharmacy's retail price. Your cost for medication will be the discount price offered through this program, or the pharmacy's usual and customary retail price, whichever is lower. This means you are assured the lowest price in that store, at the time you purchase the medication. If the pharmacy's price is lower, there is no savings or discount.

THIS IS NOT HEALTH INSURANCE: Discounts are available only at participating pharmacies. There are over 55,000 participating pharmacies across the U.S. Most major chains such as Walgreen’s, Eckerd, Rite Aid, CVS, etc. are participating. Please visit our website to find the pharmacy nearest you.

Other Attributes of the Card….

For people with NO prescription drug coverage

Anyone may use the program if it is used at pharmacies within the U.S.

Cannot be used with other prescription cards but can be used for prescriptions excluded by your insurance plan or are not covered because you have exceeded your insurance plan's maximum limits.

All FDA approved brand and generic prescription medications are covered.
